Michele Dunne

Michele Dunne directs the Middle East Program at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace in Washington DC. Her research focuses on political and economic change in Arab countries, particularly Egypt, as well as U.S. policy in the Middle East. Dunne served in the U.S. Department of State from 1986 to 2003, where her assignments included the National Security Council staff, the Secretary of State’s Policy Planning Staff, the U.S. embassy in Cairo, and the U.S. consulate general in Jerusalem. She co-chairs the Working Group on Egypt, a bipartisan group of American scholars founded in 2010 to seek more constructive U.S. policies.
